EDM # 4 Draw a Mug

Hubby brought it to my attention that my last post was a little…ahem ‘x rated’…I quickly went and took a look and my first reaction was ‘holy crap’ lol…sometimes I get so caught up in the actual drawing process, that I forget about the final drawing. Or maybe my mind is so sweet and pure that I just don’t think that way? Har har…

‘Shrooms

Just a little somethin’ something from my sketchbook…

I don’t know what it is about mushrooms they are so much fun to draw! Maybe because every time I see a mushroom I always think of fairies? They are magical to me, I just love them!

Caterpillar Sculpture

Here is  my progress so far on this guy. I’m really not sure if I’m liking the paint job on his back yet…I thought I would think on it a few days and maybe come back to it. I don’t want to even tell you how many times I have painted him already.  Oh well, what can you do??

Missing Wickett

Wow, it’s been a whole month since I last posted anything…It’s been one tough month to be honest. The day after my last post my ten and a half year old dog died. He was on three different heart medications, so I knew it was coming. But I don’t think a person can ever really prepare themselves with the loss of a loved one. Our vet said he most likely would go peacefully in his sleep, but unfortunately it didn’t happen that way. He ended up having a massive stroke and we had to make the decision to put him down. It was heartbreaking. For the first three weeks after he died I couldn’t even think about doing art. He used to lay at my feet while I created anything and if I moved to the other side of my studio he would follow me. I used to call him ‘the little shadow at my feet’… His name was Wickett. He was named after the ewok in the Star Wars series. I have never known a dog with more character than my little Wickett. He was the best!

this picture was taken a couple of weeks before he died….

Over the last week I’ve started doing art again and I finished the sculpture I was talking about a couple of posts ago…. Sorry about the crappy, crap, crap, photos

I wanted to show the whole process of how I made this sculpture…but…well, sorry I kind of forgot to take pictures of the middle part. I actually thought I did but when I uploaded mypictures from my camera there was only a few?? But, I am going to be starting another
sculpture this week. If you want to see the process step by step let me know and I will take some detailed photos showing how I make my sculptures :)
Now I’m off to go paint this little dude!!

Lest we forget.

Today we remember those who fought for our freedom. Our(Canada’s) ten dollar bill has this wonderful poem on it. It was written by Lieutenant John McCrae. A Canadian soldier who fought in World War 1

Lieutenant Colonel John McCraeIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium

May we never forget.

One lone Leaf and a WIP

I know, I know….it’s a little sad. One little leaf to show after being absent for how long?? Would it help if I told you that I’m starting to prepare for my upcoming show in June and that I am working on some rather large and time consuming projects? One is a sculpture which I’m not willing to share just yet because A- You will have no idea what it is at this point B- It actually looks rather creepy and C- I am a great big chicken.
The drawing below is 46×34″ which is HUGE in drawing land. HUGE.

I also did a mosaic of house numbers…sorry, you only get a peek!
I was rather not pleased to see the snow yesterday….soooooooo not cool. What was mother nature thinking?! Hahahaha…As you can tell I am NOT a lover of winter.
Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well these days and sorry I’ve been so scarce on here lately. It may be like that for a little while as I work on my larger projects. But I think you will really like them so please keep coming back to check up on me!!
